HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
Why choose us?
Good question! Here are just a few of the many reasons tens of thousands of Sydneysiders have trusted us for their plumbing work since 1984.
SCREECHING Tap
Does your tap sound less like a calm stream and more a cat fight? You’ve probably got a plumbing problem. Screeching in the taps is a sign of a serious plumbing fault either in the tap itself or the pipes more generally.
When taps start to screech it’s usually because the washer has eroded to such an extent that water is passing through them. This can lead to a build-up of residue in the seat and restrict the flow of water: hence the angry tap noises.
DRIPPING Tap
Is your tap leaking or dripping? Even a small amount of dripping can waste absolutely astounding amounts of water: up to 2,000 litres a month! That's around 30 shower's worth of water literally going down the drain every month - you're losing both money and water (a precious resource) if your tap is dripping constantly.
Not only that, but the sound of a dripping tap is enough to drive even the calmest person to distraction. Keeping you up all night and wasting tonnes of water, a dripping tap is the first sign of a serious tap malfunction.
If you’re turning the tap tighter and tighter in an attempt to stop drips, it’s probably time to fix or replace it. If it’s an older tap, it’s probably going to be cheaper to replace it outright.

HANDLES CRACKING
The average modern tap can live for about 10 years before it needs replacing. As with all plumbing, though, corrosive elements in water can have, over time, a negative effect on the tap. This can lead to damage of washers, o-rings, screws, valves and clips.
A good test for the end-of-life tap is the handle. Is the handle of your tap showing signs of wear and tear? Looking a bit less fresh? Cracking especially can be a sure-fire sign that it’s time to call your local plumber on (02) 8729 0773, and investigate a replacement.
WASHERS WEARING THIN
The plumbing experts at Plumber To The Rescue have seen thousands of taps leaking due to worn-out washers over the years. An eroded or damaged washer is the most common cause of a leaking tap.
Older models of tap usually have rubber washers; these wear out faster than the new ceramic washers and mean that you’re going to be caught replacing them more regularly.
Often, when a washer is repeatedly being eroded or needing frequent replacement, there’s a more serious problem with the tap: so put away the spanner and call your local plumber!
THE TOP 5 SIGNS YOUR TAP JUST TAPPED OUT

INCONSISTENT FLOW OF WATER
Is the flow of water from the tap inconsistent? Sometimes a real rush, sometimes dribs and drabs? That’s a sign of mineral deposits from what’s called “hard water”. Hard water is the name given to water with mineral impurities; almost all tap water is hard water, and while perfectly safe, it can lead to a build-up of minerals inside the plumbing, or even worse corrosion.
This will affect water flow and pressure over time! Be aware of that 10 year tap lifespan and when your tap starts to flow inconsistently, call your plumber for an investigation and replacement.
